GLOBAL PARTNERS

The United Nations Office for Partnerships

On 10 February 2009, Percy Barnevik, Chairperson of Hand in Hand International, received a formal acknowledgement from the UN Secretary General Mr Ban Ki-moon, confirming the United Nations Office for Partnership’s acceptance of Hand in Hand as a partner to work towards the Millennium Development Goals. The UN Secretary General expressed solidarity with Hand in Hand’s work in exploring dynamic and new mechanisms to fight poverty and achieve the goals set by the United Nations.

Inter American Development Bank

The Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF) of the Inter American Development Bank (IADB) has recognised the Hand in Hand integrated development model as useful and replicable for poverty elimination in poor and underprivileged communities across the world. It has initiated and funded a project that takes Hand in Hand as a consultant with Visão Mundial (World Vision) to launch a joint project for poverty reduction in Brazil. The project will work in partnership with Agência Nacional de Desenvolvimento Microempresarial (ANDE) in North-Eastern Brazil. The project will adapt Hand in Hand’s Indian model of poverty reduction and employment generation to improve conditions in this impoverished region of Brazil.

IFC/World Bank

In its efforts to strengthen and scale up its operations, Hand in Hand seeks to work with experienced partners that can provide technical and financial support. The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is an important partner. IFC is a member of the World Bank Group and provides assistance directly to the private sector in developing and emerging economies. Since the early 1990s, IFC has been instrumental in the rapid growth of microfinance around the world by providing advisory services and direct and indirect investment services.

Sarva Siksha Abhiyan

The Indian government’s Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, or Universal Education Programme, has recognised Hand in Hand’s work in the area of child labour elimination and education. Sarva Siksha Abhiyan supports our work in India through grants, education material, advisory support, and assessment and evaluation of our schools, teachers, and students.
